Mankind is longing for love, acceptance, peace, freedom, and unity. Fifty years ago, almost a half a million Americans gathered for a music festival in Bethel, New York. They hated war; wanted freedom; wanted to be loved and accepted; wanted to experience peace and unity. Woodstock was an American experience. It was a human experience. They tried drugs, alcohol, casual sex, music, art, and a great gathering of mankind. Ever since Adam and Eve were kicked out of the Garden of Eden, man has been trying to find freedom from all his problems in an ungodly way. God spoke to man through His prophets in the Old and through His apostles in the New Testaments to obey His Word. Humanity cannot be transformed without God and His Word.
In Isaiah 55, God is calling man to repent and come to Him for freedom from all his problems. “Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in abundance. Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live.” In Matthew 11, Jesus is calling mankind to come to Him for rest for their souls. “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Instead of coming to His Creator, Provider, and Savior, for love, peace, freedom, and rest, man is still trying to find solutions to his problems in ungodly ways.
In John 14, Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Instead of coming to the only way, instead of believing the truth, and instead of having the eternal life through Jesus Christ, man is lost trying to find his way though his own efforts, believing in lies, and dying in sin. In His great commission, Jesus said to His disciples: “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.”
The church is commanded by the Savior, to teach all the believers to observe all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded. But today, the church has compromised the truth. Instead of teaching “whatsoever Jesus has commanded”, the church is dancing according to the tunes of the world. Secular Humanism, Socialism, and all kinds of unbiblical doctrines are promoted from the pulpits of liberal churches. Apostle Paul in his first letter to Timothy writes: “These things I write to you, though I hope to come to you shortly; but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.” The Church is the guardian and the defender of the truth over against all the enemies of the Kingdom of God.
Today, instead of being the guardian and the defender of the truth, church has allowed in the doctrines of the devil. Social Gospel, Prosperity Gospel, Pluralism, Inclusivism are rampant in churches today. Instead of listening to the Word of God, people are hearing politics, race relations, and promotion of sinful social issues. Liberal churches and liberal theological seminaries are promoting pluralism and inclusivism. Instead of preaching the Gospel, they cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Apostle Peter declares in Acts 4: “let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead…is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Christian education is the work of the church. Theology is crucial to Christian Education. No matter how much zeal a Christian educator may have, it is of little use without an awareness of the essential theological underpinning of the faith. If the church is not faithful to preach and teach God’s Word, the people are not going to be transformed. Only God’s Word has the power to transform behavior because the Spirit wrote and empowers it. The Spirit of God empowers only the Word of God, not the vain philosophies of the world. In order for human transformation to take place, man has to receive Jesus Christ as Savior, and follow Him by believing and obeying His Word.
Best College Study Habits
- Manage your time – Once you know your class schedule, set up the time you will study and stick to it.
- Manage your environment – Find a quiet place (or a location with some background noise if that’s your thing).
- Don’t cram – Study for a hour at a time, take a 15-min break if you must study a second hour.
- Get some sleep and eat healthy – A tired brain will have trouble retaining information. A poor diet affects energy and mood.
- Study the most difficult material first – Your most difficult assignment or subject will require the most effort and mental energy.
- Study with a group – Get help from others; “teach” the material to a fellow group member to fuse it into your mind.
- Don’t fall behind – If you do get behind, catch up quick!
- Participate in class discussions – This allows you to ask questions and pay closer attention to what is being taught.
- Walk upright before God – Psalm 84:11 says, “For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” In Daniel chapter 3 we find that four Hebrew young men that proved themselves to be exceptionally wise. God showed them favor before King Nebuchadnezzar because they honored the LORD God with their lives
The mission of Faith Theological Seminary is to prepare men and women for the dissemination of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We have been working towards state accreditation and we have fulfilled all of the requirements and must maintain a $500,000 surety bond. With your help, we can make a greater impact in Baltimore and beyond. With state-level accreditation, FTS can start an online program to train and equip more Christian leaders to serve God’s Kingdom.

Beware of calls from “Microsoft”
A somewhat sophisticated telephone scam involves callers claiming to be in the refund department at Microsoft. They offer to return funds to their victims who they claim they are no longer providing technical support for. The scammers try to convince their victims to give them access to their computer remotely and then try to gain access to their victim’s online bank account. In the end, the screen goes black and the scammers transfer the victim’s funds to their own accounts.
People that still use Windows 7 might have received warning messages that support for the operating system will be ending on 1/14/20. This is true. Those who are using Windows 7 after that date will be more vulnerable to attacks and should upgrade to Windows 10 or some newer system. The scammers seem to be capitalizing on this notification by tricking users into thinking that they are entitled to a refund.
A search on YouTube for “phone scam” shows how these types of attacks work. Scammers go into call centers and have a script just as a telemarketer might. The bottom line is that they are not going to give out refunds. They are just thieves. Beware of calls in which someone is requesting access to your computer or personal information and remember that Microsoft probably does not owe you anything.
Prof. Mike Christ and Family Called to Zambia
FTS Professor Mike Christ along with his family are moving to Zambia in January. Mike will take up a post teaching at the Central Africa Baptist College (CABC), a school that trains pastors, church leaders, and missionaries to minister the gospel throughout Africa.
CABC was started 14 years ago by Phil Hunt, an American missionary in Zambia. The school has a wide influence throughout Africa and has grown to over 100 full-time residential students, who come from all over Africa. Students learn theology, while being disciple in local churches and return to their home countries with robust biblical training and a humble desire to serve. Many also go to unreached people groups to share the gospel and plant churches.
CABC also has an external program throughout Africa reaching over 1,000 students. Mike will teach theology and Bible, much as he does at FTS, to residential students in the undergrad program. The school’s long-term goal for Mike is to develop an M.Div. Program which will elevate the level of education they offer. Mike was attracted to the school, in part, because of the strong African leadership. Half of the professors are local African pastors, who lead flourishing local churches. Africa faces many challenges. The prosperity (false) gospel leads people astray. Some places in Africa face severe persecution. Only the true gospel—shown forth in healthy churches—will meet the true need.
Mike’s family—his wife and five children—look forward to new experiences. Their family will invest in a local church in Zambia. You can read more about Mike’s ministry on his family’s website christfamilyinzambia.org. You can email him at email@example.com to be added to his monthly update list. Please pray that Mike and family would make a smooth transition to their new home in January. If you are interested in supporting the Christ family go to the website: www.imprintcommunity.org/zambia.
